Mise en place.

In the kitchen, mise en place means everything in its place. For Heather, it became more than preparation. It is a way of working: know the room, anticipate what will be needed, and take care of the details before they become problems.

Before Modern Photo Booths, Heather trained and worked as a professional chef. Culinary life taught her to create under pressure, notice what others miss, and prepare so thoroughly that the finished experience feels effortless.

When her husband joined the military and their family began moving across the country, Heather stepped away from fourteen- to sixteen-hour kitchen days to raise and home-educate their two children. Years of moves, deployments, changing plans, and leading a household strengthened the same skills the kitchen had formed: focus, adaptability, ownership, and calm in the middle of complexity.

Modern Photo Booths became the place where Heather’s passion for business, creativity, and people could finally meet.

The career changed. The standard did not.

I like to create joy. I like to give people an experience that makes them smile.

Hospitality,
translated.

The room feels intentional. Guests feel comfortable. The planner feels supported.

The details are the experience.

Heather did not build Modern Photo Booths to be another piece of equipment sitting in the corner. She built it to create a few genuinely good minutes in the middle of a busy event—a chance for guests to exhale, loosen up, laugh, and leave with a photograph they actually love.

01

Mise en place

Everything has a place before the room opens: booth placement, power, lighting, backdrops, cords, signage, rugs, props, and guest flow. The setup should look intentional from every angle.

02

Read the room

An attendant does more than press a button. Heather’s team welcomes guests, creates energy, adjusts for different heights and accessibility needs, offers direction, and keeps the experience moving without making anyone feel rushed.

03

Make every guest feel seen

Some guests love the camera. Others need a little help. The goal is the same for everyone: make them comfortable, give them room to be themselves, and create more keepers with fewer throwaways.

The planner is the chef.
We are the sous chef.

Heather sees the event planner, producer, or host as the chef—the person holding the vision for the whole room. Modern Photo Booths serves as the sous chef: the attentive right hand protecting the flow, anticipating needs, solving problems, and helping the larger experience come together.

Heather has been the boss and she has been the dishwasher. Both roles taught her the same thing: do the work with humility and excellence, whether anyone is watching or not. If something outside the booth is affecting the guest experience, her team looks at the whole room, communicates, and helps where they can.

The planner should never have to wonder what is happening in the corner or whether the booth team is paying attention.

You set the vision. We protect the flow.

Guests enjoying an attended Modern Photo Booths 360 experience

A photo booth should never just sit in the corner.

It should create the buzz, draw people in, and become part of the night. It should help grandparents feel comfortable with the technology, give camera-shy guests a reason to relax, and capture the people and personalities the host did not get to see while the event was moving.

Heather is building the standard she wants the industry to be known for: thoughtful preparation, present attendants, polished execution, and hospitality people can feel.
